About us
Melo is a digital health platform helping clinical teams better understand and respond to complex behavioural and neuro-related needs.
We’re already live in real clinical settings, used by frontline teams, and generating revenue. Our product works. The challenge now is scale — building deeper clinical credibility, stronger outcomes evidence, and tighter alignment between clinical reality, product decisions, and commercial growth.
This role is a key part of that next phase.
We are an equal opportunities employer and value diversity at Decently.
We do not discriminate on the basis of religion, colour, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability status.
We are committed to building an inclusive and diverse workplace where everyone can do their best work.
About the role
We’re looking for a Fractional Clinical Lead / Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to join Melo as a part-time leadership role.
This is not an advisory role. You’ll play an active role in shaping our clinical strategy, strengthening our evidence base, and ensuring Melo continues to stand up to real-world clinical scrutiny as adoption increases.
You’ll work closely with the founders, product, design, and commercial teams - helping Melo remain clinically sound, credible, and outcomes-focused as we grow.
Why this role exists
Even though Melo is revenue-generating and used in clinical practice, there’s a gap between clinical proof and commercial trust - particularly when selling to risk-bearing systems such as hospitals, NHS Trusts, and other complex care providers.
This role exists to help close that gap by:
embedding clinical logic and workflows into product decisions
strengthening outcomes and evidence in ways that matter to buyers
lending senior clinical credibility in high-stakes conversations
What you’ll be doing
Clinical Leadership & Governance
Provide clinical oversight across the Melo platform, ensuring safety, appropriate use, and alignment with evidence-based practice. You’ll work alongside our Clinical Safety Officer to review clinical risk and guide mitigation as new features are developed.
Product Strategy & Clinical Alignment
Translate real-world clinical workflows and unmet needs into clear product priorities. You’ll partner with product and design to ensure Melo remains usable and defensible in everyday clinical environments — not just in theory.
Outcomes & Evidence
Define and lead clinical outcomes and evaluation frameworks, including KPIs and evidence strategies that support adoption, expansion, and longer-term credibility. You may contribute to publications, case studies, or external presentations where appropriate.
Commercial Enablement & Stakeholder Engagement
Support sales and partnerships with credible clinical framing, helping shape narratives and, when needed, joining key customer conversations or representing Melo in clinical forums.
Risk, Compliance & Future Readiness
Advise on clinical risk, compliance, and future regulatory considerations (e.g. MHRA / UKCA / CE), helping the company prepare for what’s coming without over-engineering too early.
Further details to be discussed as part of interview process.
What Success Looks Like
Within 6–12 months, success would look like:
Clear, defensible outcomes and evidence embedded in the product
Fewer late-stage clinical objections in sales and deployments
Product decisions that feel clinically grounded from the outset
Increased confidence from senior clinicians, buyers, and partners
Melo being seen as a clinically serious platform, not just a well-designed one
Who We’re Looking For
We’re looking for a clinician who is comfortable working at the intersection of clinical practice, product, and commercial reality.
You’ll likely have:
A medical degree (MBBS / MD or equivalent) and credible clinical experience
Experience in clinical leadership, service design, or digital health delivery
An understanding of clinical workflows, healthcare economics, and adoption dynamics
Confidence working with product, design, and commercial teams
Comfort operating in a resource-constrained, fast-moving startup environment
Experience with the NHS, (mental health, neuro-rehabilitation, dementia, LD/autism) behavioural health, or clinical decision-support platforms (including AI-enabled tools) is a strong plus.
Working Model
Fractional, contract-based role (approx. 10–15 hours per week)
Flexible working, aligned to key milestones such as product releases and pilots
Regular participation in strategy and product planning discussions
Retainer-based compensation, with scope for milestone or success-linked elements
Who This Role Is Not For
Clinicians looking for a purely advisory or low-commitment role
Those uncomfortable with ambiguity or early-stage decision-making
Anyone who needs large teams, long runways, or perfect data before acting
Salary
Contract rate to be negotiated depending on skills and experience - share options may be available for the right person.
